Hi my name is Alejandra Centeno. Since my childhood in Costa Rica, I've loved doodle, play with colors and dance. Bringing joy and happiness to people’s lives through my artistic creativity is my goal in life.

Ever since I was little I knew art was my passion. I remember when my older twin sisters were taking art classes, they would bring artwork home to finish. Like any child, I wanted to do what they were doing, so they would give me art materials to experiment with. I would get so into it that I didn't want to do my own homework.

When I came to United States , I became a graphic designer. For 20 years, I enjoyed the profession, however nothing compares to using my hands to splash color and create something amazing that I get to share with people. I am happy to brighten the world with my vivid paintings.

I started with white and black ink and pencils until 1990. Later, I started to use watercolor and since then, I have used oils, acrylics, mix media & color pencils. For me, color and art is happiness. It reflects my every day life from the way I dress to the way I carry myself, to the thoughts I think. Art is liberating and painting is freedom. There is no right or wrong color, brush, or canvas to use. Everything is perfect!

In 2014, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer . I am a big believer of  “Things happen for a reason”  "The Big C" came to me for a reason. I feel this was God telling me to stop and do what I really love. Painting....and Dancing!
I’m painting more than ever! While recuperating I started to doodle and creating  Mandalas. I found Mandalas as a way of connecting with my intuitive self, fine-tune within, self-exploration, self-discovery and self-acceptance.

I start with a blank canvas not knowing what will the end result will be I just let my hand, my heart  go to "state of joy and excitement" is what brings out the best of me and beautiful paintings start to appear right in front of my eyes. I call that ecstasy!

Dancing is another way to express myself. I enjoy any type of music but I hear any latin music like salsa, merengue, bachata etc and my body start moving.

I also love doing Make-up & face painting.  I love it because I get to help people to enhance their beauty. I find enjoyment in embracing the essence of other people's beauty. Make-Up is Art.

I feel very fortunate to do what I love, interacting with so many people and contributing positively to their lives.
I want to thank you for being here and giving me the opportunity to share my artistic flare with joy, energy, enthusiasm and bright colors with you.

There is beauty everywhere if you look close enough. Thank you for existing and being in my life.
